Obviously the Real Estate sector isn’t like it was just a few short years ago. Back then, new investors and home owners were purchasing investment property like mad. During that time, the sellers was wide open for new Real Estate agents and part time agents. Almost a fanatical frenzy, I still remember that no sooner did a For Sale sign go up, it was, within hours, taken right down again. In the same day.
It is hard to imagine the industries this helped. It wasn’t just the Real Estate agents and brokers but mortgage companies as they secured home loans to the home buyers, home improvement professionals who made repairs on the properties before they were put up for sale, any company focusing on mortgage leads for sale, home appliance stores, the local newspapers, gardening service companies and no doubt many others that I’ve forgotten to include here.
Today’s new consumer is shrewd, shops around for the most ideal offer, is mindful of his or her wallet, and isn’t significantly only wanting the the best price. The new consumer is, at this moment in time, the dictator of the marketplace be it retail shopping, finding a service provider and all the way to the Real Estate agent. The consumer of today wants to understand what companies are prepared to do for them, they may want to know how long it will take, how you’re going to provide this service, and why they should trust you. 2010 will be the year of “how high can you jump” and “what is it that you’ve done for me lately?” Today’s consumers have the upper hand.
While there are currently consumers wanting to purchase a home, these homebuyers won’t be swayed to take the 1st offer promised to them by a real estate sales person, they’re going to take the “finest” deal suggested to them. Our potential customers are energetically and anxiously checking the web, even now to find the agent they feel comfortable with to do business with.
And it doesn’t stop there, if the Real Estate Agent who eventually lands this potential homeowner doesn’t make good on everything talked about, this new home buyer will openly let as many people hear about it through consumer review and complaint sites such as Yelp and other extremely large web boards.
Scared? Don’t be. It will be a bumpy, yet fruitful road for the sales agent in 2010 and the agents who are honest, are sharp enough to sell their own listings, and look for as many alternatives as possible to keep their prospect list full, and acquire new customers by using mortgage leads, online resources, and real estate agent tips, will be the ones who stand out and hopefully set new standards for the industry. Be one.
